William Bailey
William (Bill) Bailey started coaching in the 1970s in a Lyndhurst YMCA.  He was a coach in Lyndhurst for several years before co-founding the Mayfield Soccer League program, where he was elected the first president in 1992.  He served in that position for seven years.  As president, he was the representative to the Ohio Amateur Soccer League (OASL).

As well as being a referee and holding an OYSAN “E” coaching license, he served as an administrator for club and school teams and served as the District II Commissioner for OYSAN.  Bill was the person considered the expert in soccer east of Cleveland.

Bill started the OASL Select program, and was the vice president and president of OASL for ten years, working on dozens of important new programs designed to assist the players in the multi community league.  In order for high school players to play in the off-season and comply with OHSAA rules, he started the OASL summer high school league.
He continues to serve as an advisor to OASL.  His hard work and dedication to youth soccer is known around the state.

David Beshara
Through the history of OYSAN, David Beshara will be known as the first Executive Director of OYSAN.  He shepherded the organization through a crucial time of moving from an all-volunteer organization to a professional, organized entity.

He started as a coach from 1981-1990 with the Broadview Heights Braves, Blast and Lazers.  Many boys from his team won two consecutive High School Division I championships when at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.  He was a high school coach at Benedictine, and coached girls teams in Revere Youth Soccer.

In 1996, his U20 team was the State Cup Champion, and a finalist in the Region II Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

In 1987, and for the nine years until his death, he assumed the presidency of the American Amateur Soccer League.  He served as the District 2 Commissioner for three years.  In 1993, he was chosen to be the first Executive Director.  He found an office, and began the process of taking OYSAN to the next level.  Under him, OYSAN developed many policies, which provided the base of many of the current documents.  His excellence in administration of soccer led to the naming of the OYSAN Administrator of the Year award in his honor.
It is safe to say that the association is the strong, vibrant service organization it is today due to the stewardship of David Beshara.

Tom Bilek
The late Tom Bilek was “Mr. Madison Soccer.”  He started in the sport when he coached his young children.  He was elected to the Board of Directors, where he held the position of Vice President for years.  His leadership was crucial in the Madison Soccer League joining OYSAN.

He was the integral person in bringing girls soccer to Madison High School.  His efforts saw that the program was funded privately until the school system began the support.
When his children were in high school, he began his work at Director of Fields.  He made sure the kids played on the best possible fields.  He did everything from laying out the fields, line, transplanting sod, water, and repairing the fields, goals and bleachers.  He was the scheduler.  The kids remember him best as the parking guy.  He was out every Saturday during in-house season, making sure everyone could find a parking place and that families could get in and out of the parking lot safely.

Tom Bilek gave the energy and time given to him to help youth soccer players.  Tom passed away in September of 2004.

Ary van Harlingen
Ary van Harlingen became involved in soccer when a coach told a kindergarten child that he was not good enough to play on his team.  van Harlingen stepped in and started a team so that every child had a chance to play.  He has been a certified referee and holds an Ohio Youth Soccer Association North “D” license.

He was on the Appleseed Youth Soccer Board for over 7 years serving on numerous committees and positions, including five years as president.  He continues to advise Appleseed at the request of the board.

Van Harlingen was managing partner in The Soccer Club, an indoor soccer complex in Mansfield from 1993 to 1998.  In 1995, he took four teams, 100 people including players, coaches and family members and friends to Europe for 10 days.

He was elected to the OYSAN Board of directors in 1998 and served on every committee of the board, including chairing the Disciplinary, Personnel and Technical/Database committees.  His last position on the board was as Second Vice President.
