Local Referee Gets First Chance on T V
For those of you with time to spare, we are giving you some soccer to watch tomorrow night the Fourth of July. One of our local youth and adult referees, Chris Penzo, will be the “Man in the Middle” for a First Division USL match, Miami v. Puerto Rico, 8 p.m. on Fox Channel Channel. This is a First Division match, which is one-level below the MLS, the USA’s Premier level of soccer.
Chris has just returned home from the USYS Regional and Amateur Championships where he was a mentor for younger referees across Region II. Chris will also be going to the USYS National Championships later this month. He’s also done some fourth referee positions in MLS matches but tomorrow evening he is the referee in charge. CONGRATULATIONS Chris!
Miami which is a great place to watch a match will have a great crowd environment to watch the game. The various ethnicities that come out for a game are always knowledgeable of the game as well as providing a great environment for a game.
Hope you get a chance to watch, it should be fun!

OYSAN teams traveled to Rockford, IL for this years’ Regionals. Thirteen teams
participated and three made it to the Regional Championship matches.

SUMMER LEAGUE REGISTRATION: June 1 - July 31, 2008.
Leagues beginning practice/play in June should submit registration data and complete or estimated fees to OYSAN by May 30, 2008; final registration due by July 1st. Summer leagues beginning practice/play in July should submit registration data and complete or estimated fees to OYSAN by July 1, 2008; final league registrations are due on or before August 1, 2008.
The e-Reg system for 2007-2008 will close at 4:00 PM on Monday, June 30, 2008. Registrations will still be accepted by OYSAN and all additional registration data will need to be emailed to pmenick@oysan.org at the State Office.
